They have about 30-40% tread left in them. I’ll need hub adapters, but otherwise they should fit no problem.
The guy says he’ll do $450 since I have to drive 3 hours there and back. I’m usually not a fan of black wheels on black cars, but it’s been growing on me these past few days. What do you all think? NPoCP? They retail around $100 per rim, so I’m not getting an excellent deal, buuuut... I dunno. Maybe I’ll ask if he can drop the price another 50.

Paint them white. Black is nasty.

That’s really no deal at all. 4 wheels at $100 each plus a set of heavily used tires for $450, and you need to buy adapters?

my experience with buying used tires on Craigslist is that 30-40% means not really a whole season’s worth, or there’s some uneven wear i.e. fronts/rears, OR uneven inside/outside or some such thing. Since, as you said, the wheels are $100/ea brand new anyway, I’d pass.
This past spring I snagged a set of near-new wheels with near-new tires for $500. No modification or adjustment required, they were on the same car as mine (it was even a wagon, what are the odds).
The only way to get good deals on decent sets of tires on Craigslist is: constant vigilance. And some willingness to make a decent round trip drive for the right deal.

I say no. Unless they're brand new, best-in-class tires I wouldn't even add them to your valuation. You can do better

$500 for 4 cheap wheels with 4 almost junk tires?
CP!
I’d still say CP at $200 though.

Yeah, I told the guy I’d do $300 but that’s it. Waiting to hear back. I don’t mind the cheapness of the wheels, ( and at least Motegi is one of the better-known cheap rim companies) as long as I’m not paying the full new price for them.
